Who is He to You?
"And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him,
Thou art the Christ." (Mk. 8:29)
Sometimes, it's good to know what people are saying about you behind your back.
Jesus asked his disciples directly what they were saying about who he was.
They hem-hawed and told him what some others were saying about him, but he wanted to know what they were saying.
Peter spoke up and answered, "You are the Christ."
That was a great answer; in fact, it was the correct one, since the title "the Christ" means, 'the anointed one', 'the chosen one', 'the Messiah'.
Peter was given that answer by way of revelation, by the power of the Holy Ghost because:
1) not everyone knew who Jesus was and
2) not everyone believed Jesus was who He claimed He was.
Many wondered and supposed, they doubted, suspected, as well as, rejected him...
People had been expecting Him to come with great fanfare, as one enshrouded in royalty, but He walked amongst them as one of them, though he was far from being like them.
He was fully man, but He was also fully GOD.
In a day when everyone can now read the witnesses' accounts, when many have accepted what he did at the cross and when countless others have confessed him as Lord and Savior - who do you say He is?
Who is He to you?
Deliverer?
Strong tower?
Protector?
Heart-mender?
Healer?
Lawyer?
Guide?
Way-maker?
Bill-payer?
Light?
Abba, Father?
Intercessor?
Void-filler?
Company-keeper?
Brother?
Husband?
Counselor?
Advisor?
Confidante?
Friend?
Lord?
Saviour?
He is all that and so much more… To me!
But the question of the day is -
Who is He to you?
