“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matt.1:21)
Many times, we tend to become distracted with things that do not really matter in the full scheme of things.
Details such as these, have been the source of arguments and doubt and estrangement:
- Is December 25th really Jesus’ birthday?
- How many wise men were there?
- What were the sequence and timing of the events?
I don’t propose to have any resolute answers or impenetrable revelations to add to the millions recorded. I have studied, over the years, various opinions of many biblical scholars; some I agree with and others, not so much.
However, when it is all said and done, none of that matters (to me) because “I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” (2 Tim. 1:12)
I have seen evidence of His coming, proof of His being.
Jesus’ birth is the best news I’ve ever heard and it is still GOOD NEWS to me.
It is still good news to a lost sinner. It is still good news to the hopeless; it’s good to the depressed, to the down-trodden and to the weary. It is still good to the saved.
Jesus came that we might have life more abundantly. He came that we might have love and compassion for others. He came that we would be forgiven of all our sins. He came to show us a better way. He came to light up a dark world. He came to give us hope of a better world.
He was, He is and He forever will be and …
It is STILL GOOD NEWS to me!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
