YOU GOT IT
As I drove into work one morning last week, I was followed for several miles by a police officer.
I was nervous, anxious, uncomfortable - all because I knew he had a reason to stop me.
My license plate had an expired decal on it.
The only thing about the situation that gave me some measure of comfort was knowing that if he pulled me over, I had the decals for all of my vehicles on the seat beside me. I just had not taken the time to affix any of them. Had he stopped me, all I had to say was - I GOT IT.
Eventually, the cruiser veered off and went another way, but all the way to work I could not shake the thought about how some of our lives are like that situation - mine especially.
We each have gifts and talents and abilities - things that we have been blessed with; however, many of us haven't put them into action for whatever reason - Fear, Doubt, Lack of Confidence, Laziness, Procrastination, Insecurity - the list of excuses is long.
What we have in us is like those decals were for me - they had been purchased and they were present. They were in my possession, but were not (yet) being used for their intended purpose.
The message in this for me was –
YOU GOT IT.
Got what, you ask? Everything you need.
It is already in you because God already gave it to you.
Many already know it, believe it and use it…
God Bless You!
But for the rest of us who fall into other categories…
YOU GOT IT, BUT HAVEN'T APPLIED IT.
YOU GOT IT, BUT HAVEN'T UTILIZED IT.
YOU GOT IT, BUT HAVEN'T PRESENTED IT.
YOU GOT IT, BUT HAVEN'T ACTIVATED IT.
Know this, you have a special purpose. You have a unique gift. You have a wealth of treasures in you, simply waiting to be unearthed.
The Bible says we all have gifts that differ according to the grace given us.
These gifts are given for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
When gifts are unused, somewhere are unarmed, ineffectual, ill-equpped, half-cocked saints that are failing in ministry; moreover, they are in danger of being spiritually harmed, hurt or killed because their weapons are lying down, but the attacks still come.
When gifts are unused, there goes the risks of entering trouble zones - being distracted and even punished.
Unused gifts cause us to live beneath our privileges.
We dishonor God when we hide His gifts under a bushel and snuff out that light that may lead someone to Christ.
The gifts are not without repentance. They are irrevocable and given without regret.
Don't let anyone talk you out of using yours or talk you into imitating someone else's.
Sitting on a gift is just as bad as being pushed into doing that which we haven't been gifted or called to do.
What are you doing with yours?
I pray that God stirs it up that it may be used for His glory because…
YOU GOT IT!
