Seasons Change

We are officially in spring even though it may not have seemed like it when I woke up this past weekend.

Spring is a time when some people thrive. They are happy just because it’s their favorite time of the year. They can shed the winter clothes, take walks, some look to fall in love, plants and trees turn green, flowers bloom and it just makes you smile because the sun is shining and it's a new season.

But then there are others who see Spring as something else. They may not even call it Springtime; they may call it Pollen season. Their eyes itch, throat closes, noses run; they are sneezy, congested and coughing.

What’s a happy time for some is a miserable time for others – it’s our personal perspectives that determine our outlooks.

But the thing I want us to grasp onto is that – Seasons Change.

No matter what season we find ourselves in today in our personal lives – whether it’s an up time or a down time… just remember – Seasons Change. God designed it that way.

Every since the beginning – in Exodus 5:9, it says, "the Lord appointed a set time, saying, To morrow the Lord shall do this thing in the land." And God is still orchestrating the timeline of our lives.

Eccl. 3 says, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: there is A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; there is A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; there is A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; there is A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; there is A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; there is A time to rend or shred, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; there is A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace."

No matter where we find ourselves, we are only in a temporary place. Sometimes a season will last longer than we expect. Cool weather spills over into the spring; warm weather lasts well into the Fall. Pretty soon it will be Summer and it will probably become so hot that we will want cooler weather again and about that time, Fall will come around again.

It matters not how long we have been in a particular season, we can take comfort, even joy, in knowing that our seasons will change and good things will come after the bad and thanks be unto God that troubles don’t last always.

We may weep for a night, but it is a surety that joy will come in the morning after our midnight which is the darkest time of the night, meaning the lowest point in our lives - after that, comes daylight, after sorrow, comes joy, after every storm comes peace and calm, and happiness comes to dry our tears.

So I thank God that where ever we are today, He has set our times.

Let’s hold fast to the knowledge that this Season will Change.

Amen.
